He was also a manager for the Texas Rangers (1985-1992), Chiba Lotte Marines (1995), New York Mets (1996-2002), Chiba Lotte Marines (2004-2009), and Boston Red Sox (2012). He also was a coach for the New York Mets (1983-1985) and Cincinnati Reds (1993).
